The UC Davis Health achieved top marks from the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) for providing high-quality, affordable and patient-centered care.
UC Davis received IHA’s 2019 Excellence in Healthcare award, as well as a special designation for having the highest relative quality improvement from 2018 to 2019 in the Sacramento region. Only one organization in each of eight California counties received a most-improved distinction. The regions included the Bay Area, Central Coast, Central Valley, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento and San Diego.
IHA is a nonprofit organization that promotes continuous improvements and integrated health care. It uses objective data to align California’s healthcare industry around the best ways to deliver high-quality, affordable and patient-centered care.
Of the 200 physician organizations in California that participated in the program, only 30 met the performance standards to receive an award for excellence. The performance measures focused on clinical quality, patient experience and the total cost of care, such as control of patient blood sugar levels and high patient satisfaction ratings.
IHA was founded in 1994 and is based in Oakland, Calif. Members include health plans, physician groups, hospitals and health systems. It also includes representatives from purchaser, consumer, academic, pharmaceutical and technology organizations.
